The General Assembly is AIDA's yearly gathering where members collectively steer the Association's direction. Meeting in person or online at a venue and date set by the Executive Council, the Assembly provides the Executive Council the opportunity to present a comprehensive report on the state of the Association.

It also serves as the forum for reviewing progress, endorsing new projects and work programmes, discussing finances, and considering amendments to the Articles of Association or Bylaws. Through open dialogue and consensus-building, the General Assembly ensures transparency, accountability, and inclusive guidance, strengthening AIDA’s mission to advance equitable and sustainable freshwater governance worldwide.
