Projects Chair Paul Kibel has been involved with AIDA for more than a decade. He participated (as a presenter) at two World Water Congress gatherings (in Recife, Brasil and Edinburgh, Scotland) in which AIDA organized the law track panels. He also contributed a chapter on dams and fisheries to The Greening of Water Law Handbook that AIDA produced for the United Nations Environment Programme. He is Professor Emeritus of Water Law at Golden Gate University School of Law, and has also been a Visiting Professor in Water Law at the University of California-Berkeley School of Law and has taught Water Policy in the West at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California--Berkeley. Over the past decade, much of his scholarship (articles and books) has focused on International Water Law subjects (including his 2021 book Riverflow: The Right to Keep Water Instream published by Cambridge University Press) and he has consulted with water/fisheries law projects with colleagues in Japan and Chile. Since 2014, he has also served as water and natural resource counsel at the Water and Power Law Group. He is currently completing a Ph.D. in Law degree at the University of Manchester International Law Centre (in England). His dissertation thesis is Align by Law: Fisheries and Hydropower in the Western Balkans Danube Watershed.
